This is a recycled bottle cap which has been repurposed into a miniature habitat (a Habit-cap!). This design features a pair of Common Sea Urchins which have been handmade from polymer clay and set in liquid polymer clay.
The bottle cap is white and red with the Camden Town Brewery tower motif, and measures approx. 3 cm wide. The keyring features a metal alloy D-snap hook for easy attachment. The total length of the keyring is approx. 7.5 cm.
Common Sea Urchins (Echinus esculentus), sometimes called “Edible Sea Urchins”, are found in intertidal rockpool and shallow subtidal rocky habitats. They can grow to 15 cm in diameter and are usually pink or purple in colour, but can also be red, green or yellow! This species plays a key role in increasing the diversity of species in rocky subtidal habitats by grazing seaweed species.
