This is a recycled bottle cap which has been repurposed into a miniature habitat (a Habit-cap!). This design features a Great White Shark which has been handmade from polymer clay and is set in liquid polymer clay.
The bottle cap is silver with the Whitstable Bay Pale Ale sail ship motif, and measures approx. 3 cm wide. The keyring features a metal alloy D-snap hook for easy attachment. The total length of the keyring is approx. 7.5 cm.
Great White Sharks (Carcharodon carcharias), also known as the “White Shark” or “White Pointer”, is one of the largest shark species and is found in continental shelf waters of all major oceans. They can reach roughly 6 m in length and live for over 30 years, however our understanding of is limited and more research into the population size, distribution and life history of this species is required. Unfortunately, Great White sharks are categorised as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, with global populations decreasing as a result of human activity. You can find more information on this misunderstood species, including their ecology and conservation actions being taken to preserve the species, here: https://www.iucnredlist.org/ja/species/3855/2878674
